The children find themselves in a world much different than paleontologists believed existed and witness the destruction of the dinosaurs as they try to get back to the time capsule before they, too are destroyed. In the process they discover a dinosaur called a Bambiraptor—a cross between a reptile and bird (it really existed!). Will the children escape? Will their newfound pet die, too in the destruction? Will Kyle be grounded by his father for the rest of his life! A simple shoestring from Teresa's sneaker becomes both a literal and figurative link to save, not only their own lives, but possibly all life in the past and future!
